Hailey and Montie Waraich ran much-loved restaurant Singapore House together for ten years.
Now, the husband and wife duo have opened their next foodie venture, and this one is much closer to their home in the Adelaide Hills.
“We wanted to bring something to the hills that’s beautiful and special, somewhere we can call our own” says Hailey.
The couple, veterans of the hospitality industry, are parents to two young children, and the move reflects their desire to spend more time as a family.
Honey Bang Bang is a fifty-seat restaurant in Littlehampton, and the duo are excited about starting afresh in such a picturesque location.
“The menu is simple, fun, and vibrant, with little bangs of flavor,” says Hailey.
Honey Bang Bang is a chance for the two to create something new, inspired by their shared love for South East Asian flavours.
Montie has worked as a chef for eighteen years, and will take the reins as head chef at Honey Bang Bang, while Hailey manages front of house, much as they did at Singapore House.
Lunch and dinner is the initial focus, with Hailey musing brunch may be on the agenda in the months to come.
Current menu items include crab and prawn dumplings, duck salad, seafood laksa, a take on the chicco roll, and the ever-popular salt and pepper squid.
Honey Bang Bang’s Adelaide Hills location places it near Howard Vineyard and Murdoch Hills, and wines from both feature on the restaurant’s drinks list.
The restaurant’s interior design was directed by Hailey, and features pinks and greens, a “fun” fit out to reflect the vibe of the menu.
It would seem Honey Bang Bang is yet another fitting piece in the Adelaide Hills foodie puzzle.
